President

I first got involved in swimming when the first of my three children joined the club in 2010. Since then the other two have joined and all three have progressed through the club. I have been through the different stages of being a technical official and last year became a British Swimming qualified referee. I was Treasurer of the club for 6 years until I became Vice President last year. In my day job I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and Senior Partner of Chiene and Tait.

Vice President

Peter Thompson

My daughter joined the Club swimming in a Benson squad in 2015 and as she has steadily progressed through to Age Group squad. I have no swimming background myself, but I have been keen to help and learn…..and have now been an administrator for 2 squads and a timekeeping volunteer at many of the development meets before moving to the MC. After having spent many years abroad in the oil and gas sector, our family are settled in Edinburgh where my day job, other than lead taxi driver for the children, is a consultant to organisations helping them with change and transformation.

Treasurer

Club Secretary

My introduction to Warrender was when my 9 year old daughter joined the Club and started swimming in a Benson squad in 2014 and has she has now moved through the system to be in the National Girls squad. I have no swimming background myself, but I have gradually learnt the ropes of the swimming world, having been an Administrator for 2 squads and watched many Meets from the over-heated galleries as an interested parent. I am a Chartered Accountant and have been a volunteer on the Committee of other sporting Clubs, (rugby and golf). My day job is Financial Director and Company Secretary at Lees Foods Ltd, a Bakery and Confectionery manufacturer.

Head Coach

I have worked at Warrender Baths Club for 13 years, and as Head Coach since January 2009. In 2016, I was appointed to Team GB for the Rio Olympics, the first time a female coach has been appointed to Olympic swimming team staff in Great Britain. This followed senior team staff appointments at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships for Great Britain and the 2014 Commonwealth Games for Team Scotland. I have coached athletes to the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, 2008 and 2016 Paralympic Games, 2013 and 2015 World Championships and 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. I have been at the forefront of developing and implementing changes to the Club programme (including splitting our National level squads into gender specific training groups) which have met with great success. I am now overseeing the programme, focusing on areas such as coach mentoring and development, in order to improve our coaching standards and delivery at all levels of the Club.

STO Convenor

My kids joined Warrender after being glued to the swimming in London 2012, and I haven’t managed to convince them to stop yet. Although I was Cub Scout district breaststroke champion over 25 metres, swimming was never a sport I did competitively. I therefore classify myself as a “non-swimmer” like many of the parents in the club. Whatever I know about swimming I’ve learnt since 2012, having decided to attend a Timekeeping course after finding the competition viewing gallery too hot and crowded. In my day job I am in the Global Procurement function of the World’s best brewer.

Pool Hire Convenor

I have a swimmer in National Girls squad and my eldest daughter progressed through to Youth and latterly Club squad. I am a qualified solicitor and experienced complaints handler, having worked for the Scottish Legal Services Ombudsman and the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission. As well as being Pools Convenor and Club Administrator, I am a Timekeeper for the club and squad Administrator for Youth and Club squads.

Masters Convenor

Water Polo Convenor

Andrew Milne
My association with WBC goes back to the early 1970’s when I joined after completing the “swim test” and continued up until 1976/77.  It was re-established some 5 years ago when my daughter went through the same process of joining as I did, although I don’t think it was Frances casting a discerning eye over the hopefuls back then.
I am a Chartered Surveyor by profession but feel more like an unpaid taxi service now.  I joined the MC in late 2018 and seem to have gravitated towards the social side of things. Happy to be involved in fundraising and will  tell anyone who will listen how good WBC is. It’s all about the swimmers!

Wellbeing & Protection Officer

Having grown up with a pool in my back garden in South Africa, swimming has always been an essential part of life for me. I have two boys swimming with Warrender at the moment. They started their club swimming in the Benson squads and are now swimming in National Boys and JAGS. I have enjoyed helping poolside as a timekeeper and am working towards becoming a Judge 1. I was asked to take on the role of Wellbeing & Protection Officer in May 2018. I am a qualified Educational Psychologist with 17 years experience.
