At the East District Masters on 19 November 2016 – WBC Masters were 2nd club on the day behind a more numerous West Lothian – with our 19 competing swimmers (12 men and 7 women) aged 19Y to 59Y swimming 80+ races across 3 sessions and hauling in 46 individual age-group medals (23 gold, 15 silver, 8 bronze) and 6 age-group relay medals too (2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze).
Of note David Sheen (55-59Y) won the overall age-adjusted sprint Freestyle event; Philip Rayson took the 35-39Y overall winner (even with a DQ in the 100m IM…); Jason Kenney set two 45-49Y meet records (50m and 100m Free); Sue Hoole also set a meet record in 40-44Y 100m IM; we think we set at least one relay meet record (200+ Medley – TBC); and there were numerous PBs with a good number of “first-time WBC Masters” races swum too (congrats to Nicola, Harriet, Scott, Hannah, Joan – here’s hoping to see you race well again as part of a WBC Masters squad in the future). Overall WBC Masters showed great spirit with tip top team camaraderie and enjoyed welcome support from WBC coaches on the day too. Well done to all who took part.
