We are very saddened to let you know that Hammy Smith passed away yesterday, Monday 3rd July, after a short fight with lung cancer.  Hammy has been a titan of the Scottish Swimming scene for over 60 years, firstly as an international swimmer himself and then as a much respected club and national coach, as well as a mentor and friend to so many in the swimming family across the world.

In recent years’ he has been a linchpin of a rejuvenated Warrender Baths Club with his enthusiasm and passion for the club and swimming in general undimmed; coaching young swimmers even up until last year, passing on those years of experience and inspiring to the next generation.

He will be sadly missed by all in the Club and the wider swimming family; and our thoughts are with Frances, Neil and Andrew at this time.
