Well done to Wilkie White & Smith Red at the Lothian Graded Meet
Read on for individual squad reports.
Wilkie White
The Lothian graded meet has been very successful, all the swimmers improved their original times and generally did a PB in the finals.
Holly, Katrina, Sophie and Lauren made the finals on 50 free and Holly, Katrina and Sophie won respectively gold, silver and bronze. Jamie improved his time twice, getting to the finals with a good PB. In the 12 year old age group, Georgia swam an impressive 100 Back making the final and improving her time by a total of four seconds, winning the silver medal. Ciaran also made the finals in 100 Free with a strong swim getting the bronze with a time of 1.14.44.
In the 11 years 50 back, Alistair and Holly got a speeding ticket for swimming too fast and leading the finals. In addition, Katrina and Lucy made the final too being 3rd and 6th respectively. Katie and Lucy made the final in 50 fly with impressive times and got respectively gold and silver in this event, followed by Jenny Lamb.
Finally in 100 Breast, Ciaran did an outstanding race, qualifying for the final in 6th and then moving up to third in the final of the event with a total of almost 10s PB!
Very well done for all the swimmers who showed great swims and particularly Holly gave us a lesson in how to do an underwater!
Smith Red (PM session)
Well done to the 3 swimmers who came along who had only made the qualification of the 50 Fly. All swam strong times and Sofia Barron swam impressively to get into the final. Niamh Kirkland swam a very well paced swim in the 100m Breaststroke in 1:40 to get into the final in which she was 6th. Lastly in the 10-11 boys 50 Fly final we had 4 out of 6 swimmers. Due to a disqualification of the fastest swimmer this meant we won a Gold Medal – Luke Sibson; and a Bronze Medal – Findlay Cornish. We look forward to more outside competitions next term
